We were in Salem, MA for about 3 hours and ventured out to take a look at this big boat. I think it is more like a museum now. On that gray cold day it was closed and there were no one around us at all. First we went to see the Witch Museum, well we didn’t go to see museum itself, just stopped in the gift shop for some witchy merchandise. I took a picture of the façade of the building and will publish it one day when I get around to it. You can pretty much walk to every interesting place in Salem and we walked from the Witch Museum to see this ship. Then we saw big brewery/restaurant and suddenly got thirsty. What could be better on a gray rainy day then having a good IPA with burger and fries, well there are things, but this was our choice and it was a good one.

Natasha Resting
Yachts resting in Boston harbor. They cover them in plastic for the entire winter to rest, not sure when they do this, my guess sometime in October-November time frame and probably open them up sometime in April-May. The big one is named “Natasha”, I imagine that it is named by some Boston based Russian super rich after his mistress, or something like that. In reality it is probably much more mundane. Anyway, this was taken in early January about hour or so before sunset. It snowed a few hours before and I believe it snowed a bit after this, but we had a few hours of clearing with clouds moving and sun nicely lighting them up.
Making the “Sunset at Cape Cod” Photo
Hi, here is a short video on how I made photo shown in my last post. View it full screen and in HD. Thanks!
Sunset at Cape Cod
I got there about 15 minutes before the sunset, and almost froze myself. The wind was so strong, I had to push my tripod into the sand for about 10 inches for it to have some type stability. You can’t really see the wind on this photo, just trust me about it, and, it was right about 20F. Very nice. But I was in Boston for two nights and I wanted to take sunset picture and this night was the only option to drive down here. 4 hours of driving for 20 minutes of picture taking, but I would do this again. Maybe next time (whenever that will be) Massachusetts and Cape Cod will be nicer to me and offer some nice weather for change.
