Last Sunday we went to the Blue Ridge for our Sunday Hike, it was rainy all around with occasional clouds rolling over nearby hills. Moses Cone Manor house was attacked by white fogy clouds as well. It was moving fairly quick, I wish it was possible to get the movement on the picture, here is one of the many shots I took.
We went for a little mountain hike this Sunday to escape city heat and get some fresh air. I thought that this would make a nice photo. I think it is a nice one. It rained all over, but by some magic we escaped pretty much all of it, just a few sprinkles. this is one of the hikes where they take horses as evident by a few deposits on the ground.
Recently we made an interesting discovery. According to the Beijing Marriott Courtyard travel magazine, the Linn Cove Viaduct is actually part of the Chinese Great Wall. Imagine our surprise when we opened it and saw something very familiar, something that I’ve seen here in NC so many times and actually have very similar photo of it as well. But, I guess, Chinese folks who designed that magazine know better, after all the Great Wall is only 50 miles away from Beijing and maybe they build a replica of Linn Cove Viaduct somewhere around it. Why they didn’t use one of their own Great Wall pictures is beyond simple understanding, just shows some basic ignorance of the people.
The travel magazine is about 100 pages and shows many other great marvels that tourists must visit. I just wonder, what percentage of corresponding pictures they have pulled from somewhere else and that have nothing to do with the actual subject.
So the magazine introduces the ruins of Great Wall at Badaling and goes on to describe them as – “Roaming across ruins of the Great Wall and walking through forests with red leaves, you can’t help being enchanted by the romantic charm.”
Mid July is our destination for Boone Fork Hike in Julian Price Park, right off Blue Ridge Parkway. Why? Because this awesome berries are fully ripped at this time and in large supply. This year was no exception and we made our way to this hike for some tasty berries. Who need a lunch or snacks on the hike? Not me, when I can get all my daily and probably weekly vitamins right off the berry bush. Already looking forward to next year hike.

In a few short days we are going on a short round the world trip, with our first stop in the land of dragons. So I thought it would be appropriate to share this photo of a blue dragon fly. It was seen on a Boone Fork Hike near Blue Ridge Parkway. I had 14-24mm lens at the time and had to come super close to this little dude, maybe like about 4-5 inches away. I think he got so fascinated with that huge lens and could not move, staring straight at it. BTW, I’m renting this lens from borrowlenses.com for the next few weeks to test it and to have wide angle on my trip.

oh yeah, and here are some of the dragons. actually they look more like some kind of hairy monsters, but the idea is there. It was taken back in 1992. Good times.
