The Perfect Web

I walked out from my house at 5PM to go pick up my daughter from her school and right in front of my car at the end of drive way I saw this spider web with sun shining on it from behind and illuminating it. I got in the car, turned on the engine and looked at it for a few seconds, I left camera at the house and I was late to pick up Katia from school. I thought that the sun will probably shine like this for another 20-30 minutes and I’ll have time to take some photos of it when we get back. I didn’t want to take a chance, so engine was off, I ran back into the house grabbed my camera a took about a dozen shots.

When we got back to the house, the sun was behind the trees and you could hardly see this web. I’m glad I decided to be a few minutes late. This is processed in CS5 with little HDR toning. Out of all photos that I took only couple had best sharpness and good illumination.

I’ll check it tomorrow and hopefully we’ll see the tenant as well.Click on it to open in my Photo Gallery

Rock the Block with Fire

Last night we went to the Rock the Block party and these guys were definitely rocking it with fire performance. They have been featured in the Triad News & Record. I took a few photos of their performance.

Summer Baseball is in full Force

Weather in NC right now is not super nice, it is hot (about 95F-30C), humid and just not very pleasant to be outside. Today we had some thunderstorms coming through, which were good for all the trees and flowers, we needed them. Humidity on other hand increased two-fold. We took a bike ride around the town and were sweating like pigs after 45 minutes of cruising around downtown and other areas. On the way back, in our neighborhood,  I heard a lot of what sounded like power equipment being turned on. It was around 6PM and I was wondering, what the heck, are they cutting their grass, but no yard trucks around, is it their pool pumps are so loud? they were noisy. We got back to our place, trying to open garage door and it is not working. Hmm. Wiff was quick to point out that we might not have electricity. Yes, she was right, all that noise in the neighbors houses was their electric generators. Now it makes sense.

We decided to get out to get some food. Celtic Cafe, one of our two Irish Pubs here was totally deserted and their food just sucked. It used to be good but lately we are not happy with it. Guinness is still good, not sure how difficult to screw it up.

Anyway, on the way back we decided to take a walk by the new stadium and check it out, the game was in full mode. I was hoping we would get some colors with all the clouds after the storms, but the west was pretty much darkened, so only few sunrays got this way. Click on it to see it large.

Peppered Winston

We just had soups at our only Vietnamese restaurant. They make one of the best soups, at least that I’ve tried in other places across US. Can’t compare to real Vietnam, haven’t been there yet.

This is a view of Winston tower from the corner of Trade Street and 4th street. I think Pepper building is apartment building now and Winston tower does not require explanation.
