Friday Mystery Photo

I did not manage to visit the top of this tower, can’t recall the exact reason, maybe it was already closed, maybe they did not allow tripods, maybe the line was too long, or maybe they wanted too much of my money to go up there. If any of you had a chance to make it to the top I’m sure you had some awesome views, but of what city?

Saturday Update: We have very nice weather in the Carolinas, blue skies and right around 75F, hopefully you have the same! Thanks all for stopping by, many of you know this place well, as you named it. Yes, it is Galata Tower and the city you will see is Istanbul. I’m sure it is very nice view. You got it right: Zoey, Madhu, phoxis and pymphotograph.

The View of the Heavens

Hagia Sophia is beautiful place to visit, and by the way you don’t have to wear pants or cover your shoulders to visit it. We thought that we had to and went back to hotel to get the right attire before going to see it. Wearing pants in the middle of July in Istanbul is not the most pleasant experience. Imagine my surprise when I learned that Hagia Sophia is not active mosque anymore and it is tourist attraction, you have to buy a ticket to get in (not cheap one either), so you can pretty much wear whatever you feel comfortable in.

Istanbul Cisterns

This is one of the must see little attractions if you ever visit Istanbul. It is not small as you can see but you are probably not going to spend a lot of time inside there, 15-20 minutes and you will more likely be done with it and go back out into sunny and hot outdoors. This place is cool, in every sense of the word.

Sunset

Last day of January is here, sort of a sunset of it. I felt like sunset photo was appropriate to post on this day.

Dinner Time in Istanbul

Yesterday I mentioned that a lot of people like the food cooked on those floating boat kitchens. Today I want to follow up and provide some evidence. What I don’t know is what type of food they cook on those boats. I think it is mainly grilled fish (the other side of the boat mentions BALIKI – fish), with some side items.

Anyone have first hand knowledge on this subject and can comment?
