Spring’s Snow

This is how it snows in the Spring, with beautiful gentle petals, falling from the sky. This photo could be taken anywhere where saucer magnolia grows, but this specific one was taken near the Tidal Basin in Washington DC just couple days ago. I managed to make my way there one early very cloudy morning in hopes of getting some photos with cherry tree blossoms. There were a few of them getting close, but most cherry trees are not ready yet for the prime action, should be next week. But the magnolias and other flowering bushes are in full force at the moment.

Watch Out, Don’t get Run Over

I took this photo with ghosts in the frame (like the one below) and without anyone in it. After looking at them I decided to process this one first. While US Capitol is really cool to look at, it has been photographed so many times, I decided for this one to be extra unique. When I start run out of fresh supply I might process one without the ghosts. Enjoy!

Spring is Here, Spring is Here

What? You might ask.

Well, if you grew up or spent some time in Eastern Europe, then you might understand where I ‘m coming from with this heading. For me Spring starts on March 1st, first day of Spring season, not three weeks from now. Same as summer, it starts on June 1st.

The first time someone was trying to tell me that Spring does not start on March 1st was an Westerner about 20 years ago, we got into argument. I could not understand how she did not get that Spring starts on the first calendar day of the Spring, while she was thinking that I’m barbarian or something, thinking that Spring starts on March 1st. Well, for me it was and will always start on the first day of the Spring as it is shown on the calendar.

Cherry Blossoms around Tidal Pool are really awesome. It is very popular with tourists, if you ever in DC during last week in March or first week in April then you might be able to see it. I recommend to go see it during sunrise as you’ll miss huge crowds during evening hours. With current weather, this year they might have in the next 2-3 weeks.

Early Fall in DC

With a few more weeks of winter left on the calendar I want to share some green colors we are going to see in just about two plus month from now. Back in early fall I was walking around the National Mall and saw this view off Washington Memorial with some early leaves on the ground. I was hoping to get back to the same spot a few weeks later and see how it looked with those trees getting some colors, but it never happened. Maybe some other year.

Windows at National Cathedral

Most Cathedrals have cool windows, the National Cathedral in DC is no exception. Like take a look at this one. Btw, can any one read what it says at the bottom?  – per request, see what it says at the bottom. When I took the photo I had no clue about it, discovered it only after started processing it and examining it in more details.
