Twin Peaks Falls

Sunset in the mountains is a hit or miss event. As sun goes down it might highlight some parts of the landscape and then disappear behind high peaks and leave you with nothing. Clouds play a huge part of it as well, they might allow it to peak out or not. Of course, the part of the year when you happen to be there plays its own role as well, as sun will land at a completely different part of the sky and might now light up the subject of your photograph.

Here it kind of played pretty well, hitting the higher part of the waterfalls and the hotel above it, but it was already too low to reach for the lower part of the falls. Still, I like it.

And yes, this is not really Twin Peaks Falls, but when I look at the photos of it I’m reminded of the Twin Peaks. Some of you know what I ‘m talking about.

Friday Mystery Photo

Hiking in high mountains with very few people around is very rewarding experience. It is time when you disconnect from everything that is out there in the civilized world. Time to breeze fresh air and not worry about a thing in the world. Just be there for one hour or more, enjoy the beauty of this world. Need more of it.

Self portrait day on the Friday Mystery Day. That is me, there is no mystery there. The mystery is the name of the hike. Don’t think any search engines would provide an answer for this one, but I can tell you that this was one of the most beautiful hikes I have ever done.

Weekend Update: I was guessing that this one will be a tough one and no one would get it. This is in Washington state, North Cascades mountain range, the hike around Lake Anne. Beautiful spot to spend a day.

Diablo Lake

On my way to the Lake Anne hike in the North Cascades I passed Diablo Lake, nested between snow peaked mountains, it is a natural beauty. I only stopped for a quick photo as I was trying to get to my final destination before too long, but I think this place deserve more exploration. You can even kayak or canoe down there. Maybe one day I’ll manage that as well.

Pacific North West Forest

I took this photo on a quick hike from the top of the Snoqualmie Falls to the lower level viewing point. It was about one hour or so before sunset and sun was making nice horizontal shadows so I had to stop and snap it with my phone. The photo of the falls couple posts back was shot on that day with the same phone as well.

I find it really magical around this time of the day in the forest, the way light plays on the trees and all the low brush, making shadows and bright spots all over in some random unordered way.

Puget Sound

Last week I went on the ride on the Seattle Great Wheel, it doesn’t take you super high, but it gives some elevation that you are not going to have otherwise at any of the piers. We did it right around sunset to get better western view with Olympic Mountains in the background.

Visiting Seattle is always a treat!
