Decision Day

Battle for the White House

Well, folks it is the day you have to go out and make your vote count. Especially if you live in one of those “swing” states that will actually decide this election. Whatever you are, blue, red, or independent – go and vote. Your vote will decide who will be living in that little house.

I’m for one happy that it will be all over soon. Constant advertising is getting really old and I’ll be happy not to see or hear any of it. btw, I did early vote on Friday. Now I’ll have to decide if I want to stay late and see results or go sleep early and learn results in the morning. Hmmm, Decision Day…

Georgetown Skyline

Last week my daughter went on a tour at Georgetown University. She enjoyed the tour and she said that it would be nice to go there. I think she will probably apply to it when time comes to apply to different schools. It is a good school.

It looks nice as well. I took this photo last year from the Key Bridge.

Christmas at Tiffany’s

Chevy Chase area in DC is probably one of the most expensive and snoopy areas in DC. Well, truly, most of DC is very expensive, so saying that this area is most expensive is probably highly debatable, but nerveless based on my observation of the shops around there it is not one of the cheapest ones. In December I stayed for a few nights at hotel  near the Friendship Heights metro station. When you walk from hotel to the metro station you’d see all of these fancy designer brand name stores. Usually some type of security car would be idling on the corner. I never saw any people going in or out. I always wondered how these places stay in business. Is there really that many people going buying super expensive jewelry, leather bags, shoes and dresses to pay their salaries and I’m pretty sure not so cheap rental? I read somewhere about Chinese malls and all designer shops in those malls. They are empty. No one goes there because no one can afford to shop there. How do they stay in business? Supposedly they pay their rent on the amount of actual sales or something like that. So those stores don’t have to make any money to cover their rental, but they would have presence at the mall – advertisement for the designer brand and prestige for the mall. I kind of question the same business practice in US.

Any one knows how these places stay in business?

Cherry Blossoms

Web is probably full with similar images from last week cherry bloom at DC Tidal Basin. Here is one more from me. I took this on the same night as the “Photo Mania” photos. As I was taking this one, there were dozens and dozens of people all over around me. I had to wait for about five minutes till this specific view was available for me to step in and snap a few shots. It was very popular spot.
