Another one from the recent visit to the Biltmore Estate. This photo was taken from the same spot I took the photo shown last Friday – Sunset Shooter – but was facing south instead of west. Those trees were really nicely lighted up by setting sun and everything else was just looking from my vantage point.

Appalachian Sunset
A few weeks ago we went to Asheville and drove up Blue Ridge Parkway in hopes of getting some Autumn colors in the high country and to my dismay there were really no colors at the high altitudes. In some places we were too late, the leaves already gone, but at the higher altitudes leaves just turned brown. Not a pretty side. We were able to catch some colors at the lower levels though and I think I should have one or two photos from that drive come out soon.
This photo and the video above was taken sometime back in June, during green and buggy season.
Friday Mystery Photo
Sunset Shooter
She looked to me like a pro, walking down there and shooting in every direction. She had couple cameras, one with long zoom – it was pretty long to be noticeable from this distance. She also had something on the tripod. She was shooting sunset. I wander if any of it came out good. That tree probably provides nice foreground subject. I chose to have different foreground. Maybe next time I try it down there, maybe when it is all covered with snow.
Anyway, this is Friday Mystery Photo day, where is this place?
Monday Moring Movie–Green
Biltmore Estate from Dmitrii on Vimeo.
While it is raining and super windy today on the East coast, this video reminds us about sunnier and greener days, only about six month from now. btw, our flights were on time yesterday and we are safe and sound on the solid ground.
Sandy
This is the pier at the Topsail Beach North Carolina. It is probably getting hammered by the Sandy at the moment, I hope it survives unharmed after its all gone.
We are in Boston at the moment and will try to get back south by the end of the day, before Sandy makes its landing. I hope USAir does not mess our flights and get us to the final destination on time and without too much hassle. I’ll let you know in the next couple days what happens.
