Monday Morning Movie

Olympics are Over

Too bad, there was something to watch on TV. Last two weeks were great. I’m typing it as Closing Ceremonies are rolling on NBC. So far looks like a good show. I know my daughter was excited about getting one minute glimpse at teen group “One Direction”, and now it is one hour England music “symphony” show.

Four years to Rio. Can’t wait.

Swinging Bridge

If look closely at this video, right around 54-55 second time spot the Manhattan Bridge is a bit swinging, up and down. Pretty cool. Next time I’m in NYC I might try to get a little longer time lapse of the bridge and see if we get more of these swings.

And this photo you see right before the time lapse with the swinging bridge. If you click on it you will see a much higher resolution image, which you can save to your desktop and use as a wall paper. This applies to all of my images. Just click on it, and then save it to your local drive. So easy.

Of course if you really like any of my photos, and would like to have a professional print in your office or home, you can order one from my photo library as well. Those are actually will be printed from the original highest resolution available. For example, this photo original resolution is 7378×3563 pixels. This is huge.

This is from 23 second time spot on the video. Sun is gone, but it left some glow for us to enjoy.

Friday Mystery Photo

Ads No Go

So I tried to enable WordAds last night and guess what, they completely messed up the site layout. Sounds like wordpress only wants to display it on vanilla out of the box sites without any customizations and without actually confirming with site owners where it would be ok to show them. I had to turn it off immediately. Unless they provide more flexibility on display options this blog will remain advertisement free.

Eye to Eye

I was walking along a path looking at all kind of interesting things around me, taking photos. This one cut my eye, hehe, get it? so I had to take a photo of it. The weird thing about eyes, with nothing else around it, if I stare at it and concentrate on different details, look at different angles, it kind of freaks me out. I get some type of visual illusions going on. Try and stare at it, you might see what I mean. Best works if you open it big. Just click on it.

So the mystery part, this one is probably tough one. First, where was this shown, and second, do you know who is the artist? By the way, it is the artists eye staring at you.

Advertisements

I’ve been keeping advertisements off this blog by paying for “No Ads” upgrade with wordpress.com. Recently I learned that I can turn on ads and get a little share from the ads revenue they get. I’m going to turn on this feature in a few days and see how it goes for some time, what kind of ads they are going to put and if it will at least pay for all the extra upgrades on the blog.

Небоскребы, Небоскребы (Skyscrapers)

I know that there are a few visitors to this blog who lived in Soviet Union in the 80th and 90th and will probably relate to this post. Every time I visit NYC or see movies with some action in Manhattan I think of a little verse from a song that goes like this in Russian: “ Небоскребы, Небоскребы, а Я маленький такой” which means “Skyscrapers, Skyscrapers, but I’m so little”. It was performed by the Russian immigrant to NYC and was very well known in Soviet Union. I don’t remember the rest of the song and actually as of today didn’t even remember the name of the guy who performed it. Today I had to see if it is available on youtube and hear it again. Sure thing, there are a few versions of it available, all pretty cheesy, here is one if you like to hear/see it.

From West To East

Last post was on the West coast. Today going back the East Coast. I find myself posting between two different coasts right now. Hmm, I haven’t been anywhere else in the recent times, but West or East. Need to do something about it.

New York Looking South

While back I posted similar image, but looking north. I was at the Empire State building, cold and super windy, trying to take some pictures NYC. This is looking south on Manhattan. You can see newly build trade center tower and bridges to Brooklyn.
