Biltmore House

Time Lapse Video

We stopped for about an hour at Biltmore Estate back in May. Clouds were so nice, moving in puffy formations across the blue sky, perfect day for some relaxing and I thought it would make a nice scene for some time lapse videos as well. This video is combination of a few short time lapses with still photos in between. Enjoy.

Monday Photo

I have a few of these time lapse videos created, and as you can see from them, they are combination of time lapse videos with HDR photos in between. Those photos are ok in videos, but they are much better as standalone. I’m going to try and make each Monday a time lapse video and photo day, show one of the new or old videos and share one of the photos from that video. This way, if you like it, you will be able to down load it and see it standalone in high quality.

This is photo that you see in the video at 11 second time spot. As always, you can click on it to see it in higher resolution.

Evening in New York City

Time Lapse and HDR Video

A few weeks ago I spent a few hours in NYC, a quick evening. I took a few time lapse videos and took some photos. This is the video I put together, combination of time lapses and HDR. I will be posting each photo over the coming weeks, so if you like it in the video, you will be able to download high resolution photo. One thing I learned after doing those time lapses is to next time increase ISO on the camera during evening hours, as it was getting darker, it took longer for each capture, and a bit under exposed on the time lapse videos.

If for whatever reason you can not see it via this blog, just hit it strait here – Evening in NYC from Dmitrii on Vimeo.

You already seen the first two photos that appear in this video. The following photo appears at the 11th second time spot. To see a nice high resolution image just click on it.

Time Lapse with D800

D800 has built in function to make time lapse movies. It allows to to choose the frequency of each capture and total length of the capture sequence. At the end of the time lapse, camera will combine all captures into time lapsed movie, with 24 frames/sec. The good side of this is that you don’t have to do a lot, frame it, set aperture, ISO and choose the time lapse function in settings. Push the button and wait. 10 minutes of 1 capture per every 5 seconds will produce 4 seconds of the movie. 25 minutes will make 10 seconds. One major downside to it is inability to modify the quality of the captures before they are merged into the final clip. If some parts are over exposed or under exposed they will be shown like that in the movie. There is a way to take a lot of captures without making actual movie and process them via 3rd party software, like LR, but I have to tried it yet.

So I’ve been playing a bit with time lapse on my D800. Here is the first movie. If you have problem watching it from inside this blog, you can see direct via this link.
