Happy Holidays

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! We have the tree, your presents under it are imaginary.

I took this photo a few weeks ago at the Reagan National Airport (DCA). I think they have at least three of them there. This one is near C gates, where USAir flies from. DCA is probably one of the coolest airports in US, at least the ones that I have a chance to go through.

What other airports are photogenic?

Almost

About five minutes after taking this photo, I was on the other side of the monument walking back to the Lincoln memorial, I heard the familiar sound of helicopters. Everyone else heard it too and then we saw three helicopters approaching from the south towards the White House. Presidential helicopters. They approached quickly, passed over our heads and then one of them took to the left, another to the right, but one slowly descended at the lawn in front of the White House. Everyone was watching. Everyone was trying to get a glimpse of who is going to come out from it. Too far. From where we were you can’t see any detail all the way at the White House. Still, everyone was looking in the same direction. Some had cameras out trying to zoom in. Too far.

You know what I was thinking? – Damn, I wish I was still back at that spot where I was five minutes ago.

Seattle Space Needle

Today I booked my ticket for Seattle. Going back there on a business trip in just about 6 weeks. Planning to make a short detour to Whistler/Blackcomb for some snowboarding action and maybe some big mountain photography. Hopefully weather cooperates with me on that trip. I’ve been to BC a few times and it is either super duper rainy and grey or absolutely dead gorgeous. Pretty much 50-50 split. And I will try to make across the harbor to check out downtown Seattle as well, will it look like that in the middle of winter?

Fresh Look

After using this blog for more than a year in its pretty much default configuration I finally got around and did some visual changes to it. I think it looks so much better now with my personal little touch. One other change I’d like to do is to make comments link a bit more standing out, but other than changing the entire wordpress theme I have not figured out how to do this just via CSS.

Up in North West

This is almost the same spot as I took this photo. It was looking towards North-West. Here we are looking south. After I took this photo we hiked back to the car and drove south to Ruby Beach and then back to Seattle, where we started earlier that day. A lot of driving, but it was worth it. The natural beauty of the Pacific North West is incredible. I would not mind doing some kayaking around those rocks and explorer little caverns with bird nests and other cool wildlife. Maybe on my next visit.

Pacific North West is just awesome. Especially when it does not rain. I love the nature out there, the mix of evergreens, water and mountains. It always smells fresh and it is not as humid as on the East coast. This is the view from the most north west point on the Pacific ocean.
