Place that reminds of the Twin Peaks show I currently watch on the Netflix.
btw, this is the Snoqualmie Falls
I have to say that this was probably the most beautiful hike I have ever done. Almost entire 8 miles loop around this lake had this type of views. Hours and hours of breath taking scenery. You can see a trail on the other side gradually coming up, I walked there a few hours before getting to this spot. I had lunch somewhere there, right above the lake. I enjoyed every minute of it.
Since it is Friday, I’m not revealing the location right away. Anyone hiked around this lake and can tell the rest the name of it?
Weekend Update: I’m in Seattle at the moment and on weekends try to make the best of it and visit some cool places. Yes, as a few of you (kazg10 and Zach Schierl) identified, this is the Lake Anne in the North Cascades in Washington State. I went there last weekend for a very marvelous hike. It took me 4 hours to get there (and back) and almost 8 hours of hiking made it one long day, but all worth it.
South east part of Washington state is popular with photographers for its unique and beautiful landscapes. Seems like endless rolling hills are planted with different types of crops and produce very nice patterns of different colors.
We were there last year for a quick overnight trip. For sunrise and sunset we went to the Steptoe State park and enjoyed beautiful views from the high above. During the day we drove around and looked for some other interesting photo opportunities, like this one.
With some photos I really whish it was possible to record the smell and sound as well, in some kind of static virtual way. This is very small creek, running down the slope, with slight sound of the running water and the smell of the forest during sunset, with no one around, just you and the forest and it sounds and smells. One of the reasons I wish for it is because place like this is usually skipped out and never get much attention. I took this photo and moved on, as there was nothing else around it that was super photogenic. I maybe only spent five minutes there and now I look at it and try to remember what it was like at that little spot.
A few days ago I was looking for something to listen on my phone while jogging around my neighborhood and came across “Amateur Traveler” series of podcasts. There are more than 400 of them, all done in interview like setting, taking you all over the world. I have already went through about dozen of them, taking me to Eastern Europe, New Zeeland, South America, Africa, Central Asia and a few places in the USA. Needless to say I have found something to listen for the next good while. And, I have some new ideas about places I want to visit.
Do you know of any other good podcasts tailored for folks who like to travel?
I’m planning to be back in Seattle in July and might try to go back for some hikes around Mt Rainier. I had a chance to visit it last year, probably hiked about 8-10 or so miles, got totally wiped, and had a blast. It was one of those perfect weather days in Washington, with clear blue skies, temps somewhere in the upper 70th, could not ask for anything better, other than the skies were not perfect for best photography, so maybe later this summer I get perfect weather plus some puffy white clouds.
Mt Rainier is gigantic, especially when you look at it from far away. It does not look so big when you are much closer to it, still big, like you see here, but it just does not pop up high into the skies.
