Handies Peak

Getting ready for summer season in Colorado high country. This is view of Handies Peak from Uncompahgre Peak. One 14er to another 14er. Bird can fly it in matter of some minutes… It takes hours to get from the place I was standing to the other peak, using roads and trails.

Almost Ukrainian Flag

A few people commented on these photos, that they resemble Ukrainian flag. I guess right now anything yellow with blue would look like it, perhaps in some abstract way. If these peaceful views of some of the highest places in the world can bring peace to Ukraine, I’m happy that it looks like it and perhaps brings some comfort.

Redcloud and Sunshine Peaks as they were seen a few minutes before sunrise from the Handies Peak. Beautiful Colorado 14ers.

Mount Sneffels

Mount Sneffels is 14,158ft high, one of the class 3 14ers in Colorado. I have yet to get to the summit of this one. Perhaps next year.

The first photo was taken this October at sunrise. Second photo was taken almost exactly the same day last year at sunset time. Very different.

Taken from Handies Peak, yet another Colorado 14er, which I climbed twice now and might do it again next time in the San Juan Mountains.

Sunset Changing Colors

Progression of colors during sunset at 14000+ high elevation. The first view was about 25 minutes before the second and 35 before the third. Sun went behind the mountains a few minutes later.

We are looking at the Mount Sneffels, which is something like 18 miles away, while standing on the Handies Peak. Both are Colorado 14ers. Based on the angle in the third view, looks like I started my descent after taking the first two. It got pitch dark pretty soon after that.

Mount Sneffels

Mount Sneffels view from Handies Peak in early October. From one 14er to another just under 20 miles bird fly distance. Takes much longer to get there on foot.
