Sunset at Jenny Lake

Last week we came back from two week break during which we managed to visit a few western states. Over the next few weeks I’ll attempt to post one photo from each day we were there (maybe with exception of Fridays), maybe even in the chronological order of our travels. We put 2700 miles on our rental, thankfully it had unlimited mileage and it did not matter how much we drove, that is a lot of driving but it allowed us to see different places and kind of get an idea of what is what and where we might want to get back again.

On the first day we drove to Jackson Hole from the Salt Lake City, after 5 hours in the car I was starting to get headache and we almost immediately went for a quick hike at Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park. Great way to get rid of any type of illnesses. We hiked by the south side of the lake all the way to the waterfalls and the boat dock, we thought about going all the way around, but the sun was setting behind the mountains and we decided to return back the same way. Maybe we will complete the loop on our next visit.

While you get an idea of the beauty of the Grand Teton from the Jenny Lake, it is actually a bit too close to it and you can’t see the whole grandiose of the mountains. Like here we can’t see the Tetons in their all massive beauty, you have to step a bit back from them. Maybe next photo from this trip will have that view.

Friday Mystery Photo

Well, our summer vacation is coming to an end. Today we are driving back to the Salt Lake City and flying back to the east coast. It was fun two weeks and hopefully I’ll be able to share some of the memories via a few photos with you folks as well. It is all coming in the following days, weeks and months.

As of today’s photo, since it is Friday, we do the usual. I post the photo and you tell us where you think it is. I’ll update the status of the post later this weekend with the true location and folks who got it right.

Update: Pretty much everyone, but one person, suggested that it is in New Orleans. It is in fact one of the shops on the river front in Savannah Georgia, and  David got it right. Thanks all for stopping by!

Friday Mystery Photo

We are on our summer vacation now, doing a road trip across a few western states. I actually find it very hard to make new posts with our hectic schedule. We are driving from place to place, hike all over, eat at all kind of places. I take a lot of photos every day, but by the time we get back to hotel I have no desire to look at any of them or touch my laptop. That is why this week is so short on any photos, but thankfully I had one ready for Friday.

The Fighter

Is this rooster the type they use for cock fighting? Not sure, I never seen one. I left that dude in the photo on purpose, to provide the sense of the size of this painting. Where is it? here is the clue – the cock fighting is illegal in this part of the world.

Washed Over

Or not. Sometimes the visual effects play some tricks and make us see what is not real. What do you think about this one?

btw, this is the cemetery in the old town San Juan Puerto Rico and it is not getting washed over by the Atlantic, it seats way above the sea level.

Friday Mystery Photo

I like to photograph fishing piers, not that they are that beautiful or anything, it is that they are usually located on some nice beach with beautiful ocean views. Also they do provide nice leading lines and most of them are unique, hard to find two that are exactly look the same. The bottom line I like to be there and see the sunrise or sunset and as part of that experience take some photos as well.

So any of you recognize this one? It is sunrise, that excludes one ocean out… I’ll update with right answers later this weekend. Happy fishing!

Late Sunday Update: I’m on vacation now and its been hard to get any “computer” time, so very late update. Yes, it is indeed the pier at the Tybee Island in the State of Georgia. Thanks all for casting a vote and to avian101 (not sure about real name) for identify it correctly!
