Hiking, the Easy Way

Every hiking trail is different and depends on the amount of people visit them and who controls them, they can come in all shapes and forms. Some are fully paved and very wide, almost like sidewalks in the city, some are partially paved and maybe have some crashed rock for the surface, and of course most of them are pretty much natural flow of the landscape with sticking out rocks, crevices and polished by thousands of boots wiry roots, there for you to pay attention as you trek the trail. I’m usually not the big fan of the fully paved trails, sometimes I find it actually a bit harder to walk on them than the normal dirt ones. At the same time I do appreciate when they build little bridges across the creeks and stone staircases in what otherwise would be very steep climb or descent. Another benefit of the little bridges is that most of the time they provide nice photo opportunities, but of course this is only if you are looking for such opportunities. I usually do.

Last night I was working on another short movie, hoping to expand Monday Morning Movie lineup with another choice, but didn’t have time to finish it, maybe I’ll finish it for next Monday. Something to look forward for me and for you guys as well, well, I do hope you look forward to my Monday Morning Movies and Friday Mystery photos. Its been here for the last six plus months, every week.

Anyhow, some of you already have seen this one, I shot it back early this summer in the Appalachian mountains, about 45 minutes north from Asheville, right off the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Updates on My Apps

If you are using Windows 8 OS then please check out my apps. “Travel Photography” app now will show the exact location of the photo in each post (except on Friday for that Friday photo) and it has gallery of my favorite photos. I use “Map My Photo Pro” app to assign precise location to each photo before I publish it on the blog. If you like to remember where you took your photos and show them on the map, then this app is the perfect tool to do that.

Boone Fork Trail

While there are some yellow leaves floating in the water, it was taken in the middle of the summer, way before everything around there turned into yellow and red. This photo was taken on the same day as I took this photo, posted back in July. I like how HDR makes flowing water look so silky smooth, just like with long exposures or some filters.

Wife Modeling

I have a few more Fall photos in my archive that I want to post, and admit it, here on the East Coast US we are still in pretty much middle of the Fall. Even though all leaves are gone, trees are naked, but it is about 70F today in Northern Virginia, today is December 4th, mind you.

One day after work back in late October we went for a short walk at Reynolda Gardens, this is the only tree that was in some orange heat at that time. My wife was modeling for me, resting on the bench, good job!
