Autumn in Boston

I hope everyone is having a good Thanksgiving week! I took off entire week off from work and right now just chilling at the house. This morning I continued processing this Autumn photos, concentrating on the ones that have some trees with some colors. I was in Boston a few weeks ago and stayed in Residence Inn, right across from the downtown. It took me a heck of an effort to figure out how to drive to this place, if you miss your turn and it is not clearly obvious for visitors which turn is yours, you’ll either end up driving on the highway or somewhere in downtown. Which means you have to turn around and start all over.

At the same time the upside of staying at this place is quite nice. I discovered that you can walk from this hotel along the banks of the river and go under the bridges. It is all nicely done and I think I have a few photos worthy to show.

Autumn Colors in MA

My daughter just came from Boston for Thanksgiving break, she was happy to see a few remaining colors we have here in NC. She said that in Massachusetts all leaves are gone and all trees are naked. Not like three weeks ago, when I took this photo, at that time everything was pretty much in full and gorgeous color.

Forest River Park

One thing is missing in any visual art is the sense of smell. I love the smell of Autumn leaves, and when they are in such abundance, the intensity of it is so strong. I remember being at this park and inhaling the smells of it, feeling it with all of my senses, enjoying it. At least watching at this photo reminds about it, this is one of many reasons I take them, remind me of cool places I had a chance to visit.

Ten Days of Autumn

For the next few days I’m going to try and post mostly Autumn photos. The Fall is almost over and I have yet to post anything with autumn colors. I’m not really sure how many I took this year, might have to go back to last year photos, I know I did take some nice photos last year and they are worth to bring back to the front page. Hopefully no one will get too tired of it.

Driving north on HW127, right before Endicott College, we saw a guy taking some photos into the forest. As I passed him I saw a little pond down below, some nice colors and the soft sun right on the trees. I had to stop, and thankfully there was one of the overflow parking lots for Endicott College just 200 meters or so from the spot. I had my 14-24 lens on the camera and from top of the HW it was too far away to take any photos. The guy was hand shooting and had a zoom lens, so he probably was OK. I went straight down the rocky slope to get close to the water. He saw me, said something to his wife and followed me down there as well. I guess I inspired him to get closer to the water as well. We chatted a bit, and immediately discovered that we both speak Russian. How funny is that. Anywhere I go I see bunch of Russians.

BTW, did you know that Endicott College is one of the most scenic colleges in America?

Monday Morning Movie–Rockport

If Video is not shown then see it here: Before the Storm from Dmitrii on Vimeo.

I took photos in the movie and couple short time lapse movies last Sunday, one day before big storm Sandy came to the East coast. We were there during sunrise hours and the weather was actually not that bad. Wind was picking up a bit and clouds were moving in, but there were no rain at that point. Later in the morning we drove down to Boston and caught our planes down south, probably some of the few last planes that took off from Boston for the next two days.
