Last night I was working on another short movie, hoping to expand Monday Morning Movie lineup with another choice, but didn’t have time to finish it, maybe I’ll finish it for next Monday. Something to look forward for me and for you guys as well, well, I do hope you look forward to my Monday Morning Movies and Friday Mystery photos. Its been here for the last six plus months, every week.

Anyhow, some of you already have seen this one, I shot it back early this summer in the Appalachian mountains, about 45 minutes north from Asheville, right off the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Updates on My Apps

If you are using Windows 8 OS then please check out my apps. “Travel Photography” app now will show the exact location of the photo in each post (except on Friday for that Friday photo) and it has gallery of my favorite photos. I use “Map My Photo Pro” app to assign precise location to each photo before I publish it on the blog. If you like to remember where you took your photos and show them on the map, then this app is the perfect tool to do that.

Boone Fork Trail

While there are some yellow leaves floating in the water, it was taken in the middle of the summer, way before everything around there turned into yellow and red. This photo was taken on the same day as I took this photo, posted back in July. I like how HDR makes flowing water look so silky smooth, just like with long exposures or some filters.

Geo Tagging App

I just got two more apps into the Windows 8 App Store. They could be of interest to you guys as well. Majority of the DSLRs are not capable to tag photos with geo coordinates so you have to do it afterwards by some type of application. I put together a simple to use app that will let you choose your JPEG photos and assign them with GPS coordinates simply by dragging a pin on the map. I started tagging all of my photos with this app as of two days ago. The first app is free, but it has ads bar in the window, the second is not free (cost less than a cup of coffee, most everyone can afford it), but without any annoying ads and with the same functionality as the first one. So try the free one and if you find it useful, get the ads free one. See my Apps page for all of my Windows 8 apps that you can use!

Crabtree Falls

A few weeks ago we did a short hike to the Crabtree Falls. It was fairly busy there and I had to wait for the right opportunity to take a few photos without anyone in the frame. I did not do any type of ghost removal in this photo. As you might know, right now I’m shooting with D800 camera with its whooping 36 Mpx censor. When I zoom into this photo (at the native high resolution file) and with just water falls in the frame, the quality of it is pretty darn good. I’ll probably post this photo sometime again, but cropped to the waterfall only.

Blue Ridge Autumn

I took three attempts to take this photo. The first two times I was interrupted by incoming sound of the car. One time from the south, another time from the north. Both have the same curve as you see in this photo, so you could not see the car, you hear it first, then it shows up and they drive at least 40+ miles/hour on this mountain road. So I did what any sane person would do, grabbed my tripod and walked off the parkway… of course for some folks me being on the parkway taking photos might not sound as being sane…but hey if not, then you would not be able to see this photo…someone has to do it.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
